What teams ask before commissioning a platform built from scratch.
When does custom software make more sense than an off-the-shelf product?
When the operation has logic no packaged product models, custom software is usually the right answer: real-time multi-country pricing, fleet coordination across hundreds of sites, or availability targets a generic SaaS cannot meet. A packaged product asks the business to bend to its assumptions. For a critical operation, that often means manual workarounds, data living in spreadsheets next to the official system, and a process the software never fully captures. We build custom platforms specifically for these cases and integrate them with the systems already in place, so the software follows how the business actually runs rather than the other way round. Where part of the need is genuinely standard, we say so and reuse what exists instead of rebuilding it.
How do you choose the software architecture?
Architecture and the operating environment depend on your existing systems, requirements and the team that will maintain the software. We discuss the maintenance needs and dependencies of each option with you. Decisions are reviewed as the project provides new information.
Can you integrate a custom platform with our existing ERP?
Yes. We connect ERP and business applications through an integration layer. Data validation, format translation and traceable exception handling support consistent records and reduce manual transfers.
Who owns the software, and what happens at handover?
You own the platform we build for you: the source code, the data model, the infrastructure configuration and the technical documentation. We favor open technologies and deploy on your own cloud account or environment, so nothing essential is tied to a license only we can renew. At handover we run a structured knowledge transfer with your engineers, walking through the architecture, the deployment pipeline and the day-to-day operations, so your team can run and extend the platform on its own. Many clients then choose to keep us operating the software in production, with monitoring, automated recovery and ongoing maintenance, but that stays a decision you make, never a dependency built into the platform on purpose.
Can DNA Solutions work with our internal development team?
Yes. We can work with an existing team on the parts of the project that need additional engineering capacity. We agree responsibilities and priorities together, review the software as it develops and share knowledge throughout the work. The scope can include development, data engineering, architecture and preparation for production.
